Our overseas-based competitors produce significantly more phone cases than they can sell (approximately 25% more) wasting materials, time, and energy.

Ultimately, these unused, non-recyclable phone cases end up in landfills. Carma Case is the first company to produce phone cases on-demand in our Detroit-area factory. We make only what is ordered, reducing the amount of energy used in the production of each phone case and eliminating unnecessary waste.

Around 1 billion mobile phone cases are produced annually, with the majority made in China. Many cases are shipped around the world via cargo planes and then stored in warehouses in the country of sale. A cargo plane fully loaded with mobile phone cases creates approximately 11 to 16 lbs of carbon per case.

Domestic manufacturing enables us to manage production and inventory, reduce material and energy use, and minimize shipping and logistics costs, to offer a premium product at a lower price. A Michigan-made Carma Case produces over 90% less carbon compared to similar products made overseas.

Climate Commitment

We partner with Shopify Planet™ to provide carbon-neutral shipping on all orders and remove thousands of tons of carbon from the atmosphere.

For every order we receive, a formula is used to calculate the estimated shipping emissions. Based on those estimates, a portion of our revenue goes to carbon removal companies that have been vetted by scientists from Carbon Direct. Those companies, like Mast Reforestation, use that money to remove however much carbon our shipments created. Any extra funds go toward the further development of carbon removal technologies.
