LIVONIA, Michigan (September 19, 2024) – Carma Case, LLC – a new, Michigan-based company – has formed to launch a new line of U.S.-made, low-carbon products for the mobile tech and personal goods markets. The company’s first product will be a line of premium phone cases for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 ProMax. The cases will be manufactured in Livonia, Mich.
The first line of Carma Case products will hit the market on September 25, 2024.
The premium case will retail for $25 and will be made from recyclable, U.S.-sourced materials. The case features a patent-pending series of cooling channels located inside the back of the case. These purpose-designed channels enable heat generated by the battery to transfer out of the case, keeping the phone cooler, and thereby extending battery life. The single-material, high-grip, slim-design case will be launched initially in six colors.
“Our goal is to produce the lowest-carbon, high-quality mobile phone cases on the planet,” said Frank Buscemi, spokesperson and co-founder, Carma Case. “The mobile phone case market is substantial, but also highly inefficient and wasteful, and we knew we could make these cases better, faster and more sustainably. As a result, Carma Case will be the first line of U.S.-built and sourced mass-production mobile phone cases on the market, and they’ll be made right here in Michigan.”
The company’s unique, proprietary manufacturing process enables it to produce mobile phone cases 75% faster than current manufacturers of single-material cases. It also enables Carma Case to produce on-demand to meet market need.
This, coupled with a direct fulfillment method, nearly eliminates the need for warehousing. This methodology results in a carbon offset of approximately 95% when compared to the world’s largest mobile phone case providers.
Nearly one billion mobile phone cases are manufactured annually, with most made overseas and shipped to markets by air or barge. Of these, nearly 300 million make it to the U.S. Most of these cases are then stored in warehouses until sold. The unsold units – estimated at 25% of total production – often end up in landfills, unused, when new versions of phones are launched.
Initially, Carma Case models will be available for direct sale on the Carma Case website, and through Amazon.
Carma Case is currently developing additional mobile phone case models for both Apple and Samsung, along with a line of other low-carbon personal goods.
“The first line of Carma Case products are the perfect mix of sustainability and technology and serve as an initial step for the company,” said Buscemi. “Our manufacturing capability and experience will enable us to launch several more products in the personal technology sector, as well as the transportation components space during the next 12-to-18 months.”
